Whether your a pilot, would like to be or just like super cool planes and antique cars, this is the event for you and your family. The Chickasha Municipal Airport (CHK) and Chickasha Wings have teamed up to provide a jam packed event from 9 am to 2 pm with truly something for everyone.
The event kicks off at 9 am with one of the most iconic B-17 planes, the “Sentimental Journey”, best known by its eye-catching and quite racy at the time pic of Betty Grable on its nose. The plane will be on display for all to see for free. However, special rides can be purchased for use on Sunday, which might make a great gift for a special Dad or Granddad. In addition, a C-3 will be demonstrating how troops jumped on to the banks of Normandy.
In honor of our soldiers and their service to our country and our freedom, we have a real treat. We were able to locate a local pilot with over 1200 hours of service flying this model. He will be signing the bomb bay doors and will leave his mark permanently and proudly on display. We will be giving you more information on this great American soldier leading up to the event.
If this bit of history isn’t enough for you, a RC demonstration will take place from 11 am to 1 pm. Young Eagles and Chickasha Wings will also have aircraft available and rides as well. Antique cars will also be on display in front of the airport as well.
This event also will feature a kids area, some awesome giveaways and a food truck. So bring your blanket and bring your chairs and get ready to have some great fun.
So make plans to join us and come out and “Eat, Shop, Play & Stay in Chickasha”!
