With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the social calendar is beginning to fill. So take advantage this week of a few things mentioned in Tourism Tuesday. With the weather having played havoc with Yukon’s lights display, we are experiencing added traffic, which is great for Festival of Light and for our city. So take 15 or 20 minutes when you get a chance and enjoy this extremely awesome weather and drive or walk through the lights. The weather forecast is absolutely stunning through sometime Saturday with only a 50% chance of rain.
My family will be taking time to go and visit many of Standley Systems and Chickasha Art Center’s many hay bale displays around town. This is great to take advantage of during the week no matter whether it is dark or not. These displays can be found on Hwy 81 coming into town from the South across the street from Staples, on Grand Ave. west of Walgreeen’s and again by A&E Grill and 12th Street by the park.
From Minions, to Peanuts, to Ninja Turtles, to delightful Teddy Bears and the awesome tribute to our country there is most certainly something for every age and interest.
This local attraction, suddenly
became a state destination when News 9 featured the unique twist on Christmas displays on their news program.
Also Downtown Chickasha, thanks to many store owners as well as the Chickasha Main Street Group, who hosted a contest) has allowed us to enjoy many awesome storefront displays downtown as well. Follow it all the way to the Rock Island Depot to see the City’s newly lit tree gracing the interest to the Depot.
And of course, after taking in all the lights and driving around town, make sure to take time to stop in one of the many great restaurants in town to fill back up your tank so-to-speak. I know many of us like to go out on the weekends, but during the Festival of Light it is a great opportunity to enjoy our restaurants during the week and have some downtown with friends and family to truly visit.
